Huay Tung Tao Lake
Huay Tung Tao Lake is a recreational area run by the army. There are only a few square kilometres within it's boundaries but there are many different habitats including the foothills of Doi Pui, a lake and some rice paddies. The birders in Chiang Mai are attempting to turn the rice paddies into a waterfowl protection area complete with hides and boardwalks.
Amongst the over 250 species recorded here by local expert, Tony Ball, are Rufous-winged Buzzard, Yellow-breasted Bunting, Rufous Treepie, Burmese Shrike and Long-tailed Minivet.
