Kaeng Krachan National Park more

Kaeng Krachan is located on the eastern slope of the Tenasserim Mountain Range at the top of the Malay Peninsular and borders Burma (Myanmar).  The area, about 3000 square kilometres, consists mainly of mountain forest though there is a large reservoir in the park. The mountains peak at 1,200 metres and are the source of the Phet Buri  and Pran Buri rivers which empty into the Gulf of Thailand.

Kaeng Krachan is full of bird life and as you move along the 35 km dirt track up the mountain you pass through many different habitats. Many of the birds are not shy and nest near or over the road. It is fairly easy to see Broadbills, Bearded Bee-eaters and Trogons. There are in all, more than 410 species.
