     Phukeaw Wildlife Sanctuary is a large area of mainly level forest. It has probably the highest density of mammals in Thailand and is a very good place for bird watching too.

      It is not a National Park and turning up unexpected can sometimes end in disappointment as they prefer visitors to get a written invitation first.

     There are many kilometres of metalled road within the park from which to search for birds and also a permanent hide in the forest which is great for photography. Red-billed Blue Magpie, White-throated Rock-Trush, Blue Pitta, Great Slaty Woodpecker, Eurasian Jay, Siamese Fireback and more than 200 other species can be seen here.
